Cutting Corners

I remember that day like it was yesterday. It was a hot afternoon and after what seemed like grueling hours of listening to teachers dictate notes, it was break time. Your girl was thirsty! Going to the tuck shop just to buy a sachet of water was not an option because the queue was too long and I couldn’t imagine going through that torture. There and then; a light bulb moment! “Go and buy it from the teacher’s house", the thought seemed to say. Yes, why not? Well, we had been forbidden from buying water anywhere apart from the tuck shop. So there I was, at a crossroad: to do or not to do? Well, joining that queue was not an option so on I walked to the teacher’s house side by side with a companion and it felt sooo right! Everything was going according to how I had planned it in my head ...that is until the moment the Assistant Headmistress herself(I shall call her Mrs. S.) stopped me from getting what I needed to quench my thirst. She appeared from nowhere and that was when...

The Voyage.

Walking down Memory Lane I see Your faithfulness Through all the unbearable pain You never loved me less Holding my hand You made me understand That problems cannot be wished away with a wand So here I am With all my baggage and pieces Before the great I Am I know I can find peace in Your arms And I’m never letting go Because I know That this journey is worth it all And I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

Imperfect Seasons With A Perfect God.

Dear Papa, What's the next step? Life is full of cycles; a constant movement from one thing to the other. It's like a seamless evolution of thoughts, lifestyles, and ambitions. So why do I feel stuck in the middle? Is it okay to not know the next step? Is life supposed to be clear cut? Or am I the strange one? I put all my attention and energy into one thing and at the slightest disappointment I begin to question what You really want me to do in this season. I keep asking...seeking...desiring to know what You would have me do but all I hear is a deafening silence. The pressure to listen to the wisdom of men is so real right now. It will be undeniably easy to take the lead and try to drag You along but I want to live in Your perfect and not permissible will for my life. I refuse to be involved with anything that is not orchestrated by You. Should I take a step and trust that it's Your will? I have so many doubts and questions about where I need to be right now. Wh...

You Know My Name.

Dear Papa, Losing my earthly father shook me to the core. There I was, a little girl who felt like her hero had been taken away from her. The confusion, anger, and pain made me feel like I was losing my mind. I kept all these feelings in and I fought against Your love. The world had many ideas of who I should be and where I should go. I kept running in circles till my world was turned upside down. I believed the lie that I was an orphan who had nothing to look forward to. Yet still, You pursued me. Your mercy never failed me. You picked me up and led me through the valley. You made me whole again. Your love washed me over and over again. You proved that You are a hands-on Father. You comforted me when I felt I couldn’t go on. You held my hand and lifted my head. You have never made me feel like I do not belong. Each and every day I see different shades of Fatherhood. I am so loved and the best part of this story is I get to call the King of the whole universe my Father! When I...
